This new Alamo Colleges District campus opened in 2023, providing San Antonio's Southside with nursing and workforce training programs. Classrooms, offices, nursing simulation labs, and a robotics lab are arranged in two linear bars sited to minimize solar heat gain and maximize air flow through the shaded courtyard bewteen them. Ground water channeled through the courtyard in a vegetated trough provides seasonal evaporative cooling in the hot south Texas climate. Elevated exterior walkways increase visibility between occupants to add to a sense of community while reducing the amount of conditioned space, lowering operational costs and energy usage.
